MODEL UPGRADES

June 2011

Now available! Enjoy meeting old friends again as WIKING breathes new life into classic moulds! The model upgrades for June include the Mercedes Benz 180 Ponton as well as the MB L 10000 which have rejoined the range. Other classic vehicles making a reappearance are the legendary BMW Isetta - once commonly referred to as the “pothole detector” of the 1950s - as well as classics such as the VW T1 combination which is in the form of a contemporary educational vehicle used to give advice to housewives. Alongside the Fortuna manure spreader we have the Metz turntable ladder 23/12 on an Econic low-floor chassis as well as the new Beetle, both in the latest colours. The traditional model-makers have also created a limited edition set of models from the Dortmunder Actien-Brauerei (“DAB”) to evoke memories of the once proud brand from Dortmund whose fleet of snow white vehicles was a familiar site in the Ruhr district in the 1960s. The first Opel Blitz along with the Hanomag Kurier and the Krupp 806 are all faithful reproductions of the original flatbed trucks which were used to distribute beer. N-gauge fans need not feel left out as WIKING has created the Magirus container carrier articulated truck in the livery of the shipping company “Hamburg-Süd” as well as a set of fire service vehicles.
