Chronology of Success

The Traditional of WIKING models

2010
Borgward 1:87 scale transporter and 1:32 scale Claas Xerion

Fans of model classics will be delighted! At the start of the millennium, WIKING launched the Borgward transporter, with a bus version being made available later. The traditional model builder added to its program of classics with the Borgward that closed the gap between private cars and transporters. The Claas “Markant” baler was a popular, updated agricultural machine, launched in the proven classic range with two innovative new model releases to 1:87 and 1:160 scales. WIKING’s agricultural segment got an updated look: the successful die-cast metal series featured some fabulous new filigree miniature models! Precision quality was showcased in 2010 with the new Claas Xerion, the sixth trailer in the WIKING die-cast model range. With two controllable axles and revolving cabin, the model builders succeeded in producing an authentic mini-version of the all-purpose trailer! Another newcomer in the pick-up range is WIKING’s VW Amarok to 1:87 scale. All fire service fans also loved the 1:43 scale Metz L30 fire engine ladder on Econic chassis and the new Rosenbauer AT range with MAN chassis – two updated models also on show at the Interschutz 2010 fire safety exhibition in Leipzig. WIKING attended this international exhibition as well as the earlier Intermodellbau in Dortmund and the Modellbahn in autumn in Cologne. “WIKING – Auto Model Fascination” was the eye-catching title alerting readers to the latest facts about the model builder. This third volume rounded off a popular book series with a history of the company and traditional model builder. At the year end, after two fire engine vehicles, the MAN Lion’s City was more proof that WIKING CONTROL87 can introduce a great bus for unrivalled play action and driving fun!

2009
60 years at the Toy Fair

We start 2009 with an anniversary: the Nuremberg Toy Fair is honoured by the WIKING brand which has been one of its most loyal exhibitors, attending every year since the world's leading toy fair was established. Dealers and collectors alike can also look forward to an attractive and extensive range of models in 2009. These will include the 1:87 model of the very latest tractor - the Deutz Agrotron X 720 - and the long-awaited VW Porsche. The new book entitled "WIKING – Small cars, big passion" is set to make recommended reading for anyone with an interest in models as for the first time, the history of WIKING from yesteryear up to the present day is described in detail by focussing on different themes. The book contains a wealth of exclusive information on WIKING, with 192 pages and more than 600 illustrations.

2008
WIKING CONTROL87

WIKING CONTROL87 became available in August 2008 - the premiere model presented was the LF10/6 Compactline fire service vehicle from Rosenbauer. This range comes with WIKING quality guaranteed. The technology which is hidden from view is based on the world’s latest and most advanced radio technology (2.4 GHz/ISM band). The precise and innovative engineering ensures simple reliable operation so that WIKING CONTROL87 will guarantee driving fun and maximum play value right from the start. Fire service enthusiasts will delight at the new generation of turntable ladders from Metz. To add to its chronology of classics, the model-makers have produced two Fendt tractors, the Farmer 2 and the Farmer 2S. But that is not all: another addition to the range is the characteristic Fendt tool carrier. And it goes without saying that these are also joined by classic cars. Great attention has been paid to two youngtimers - the Opel Rekord D and the Commodore. Truck fans have not been forgotten either: WIKING has been focussing on the highly traditional short bonnet series from the 1960s from Mercedes Benz. Several variations of the truck with its attractive cabin have been presented in 2008.

2007
The Panther 6x6 in 1:43

It was a Nuremberg toy fair which was full of surprises: first of all, the precision model-makers from Berlin presented two pilot models under the title WIKING CONTROL. Once these high-tech remote-controlled models have been put into production, they will introduce a new level of mobility to the big world of small models which will make the enjoyment they provide more realistic than ever before. During the year, WIKING presented its first model on a scale of 1:43. The Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 provided indisputable proof of the real skill of the model-makers. Other key models added to the range included the Audi TT Roadster, the Lanz D2016 and the Compact Line from Rosenbauer in 1:87 and 1:160. The John Deere 8530 and the Claas Axion 850 were also launched in Nuremberg. The book entitled “WIKING: A legend in model-making“ which tells the history of the brand and models from yesteryear up to the present day for the first time was a complete success.

2006
The classic Bulli gains new popularity

The world of WIKING lives on: 2006 brought around two dozen new models, including the spectacular Kaelble dumper truck as well as the Atlas 2005 M mobile excavator as the very latest construction vehicle. Besides the Audi Q7, the VW Passat variation and the VW Jetta, numerous attractive variations of the VW T1b - a true quick-change artist which has earned its status as a classic - were added to the range. Other models making their debut included the lightweight MAN TGL series as well as two classic tractors, the Eicher Königstiger and “Little Grey Fergie“. The highlight of the year was without doubt the biggest fire truck which WIKING has ever produced in 1:87: the “Panther 6x6“ from Rosenbauer.
