Chronology of Success
The Traditional of WIKING models
1986
New production facilities in Tempelhof
After being at its well-known address at “Unter den Eichen 101” for so many years, WIKING moves to a new address at "Industriestrasse 1-3". Millions are invested in updating production facilities. WIKING prepares to face the growing competition in the model market.
1985
The 1:87 scale is implemented
Previously always realized based on the H0 scale, the introduction of a new scale premise enables precise implementation of the 1:87 scale. New quality standards are also introduced in model-making. More filigree work in the detail and accessories make it obvious at first glance that progress has been made in the production of chassis and cabs.
July 1st 1984
WIKING in new hands
The continuance of the popular WIKING models is secure! The Sieper Group, which was also producing plastic models in the 60s and then later on focused on toy models from zinc diecasting, takes over WIKING-Modellbau Peltzer & Peltzer. Its name is changed to WIKING Modellbau GmbH & Co. KG. So the life’s work of Friedrich Peltzer is to be continued. Synergies in distribution are consistently developed but the independence of the WIKING product philosophy is retained. The WIKING tradition enjoys a distinguished reputation on the market.
1981
The death of Friederich Peltzer
It is now time for WIKING model enthusiasts to say farewell: Friedrich Peltzer is dead. As founder and sole proprietor, he had a formative influence on WIKING-Modellbau and made the 1:87 scale one of the most popular scales among collectors in Germany. His life’s work will always be remembered. First of all, an executor takes over the business.
