The Traditional of WIKING models

2005
Mighty “youngtimer” haulage vehicle from Schlüter

2005 is another year for numerous inspiring new models from the traditional model-makers. These include the very latest models of the Golf Plus and the Audi Q7 and the giant Fendt 930 Vario haulage vehicle with a matching baling press from Massey Ferguson. But there are also models like the Kaeble KDV 22 Z8T, a high-quality classic which WIKING fans can see at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, which prove that this is going to be another exciting year of models. In the year of the "Interschutz" in Hanover, another addition to the range is the new generation of turntable ladders from Metz. Models of vehicles from Rosenbauer join the range with a miniature tunnel fire truck and a matching tunnel ventilator. The new A-class from Mercedes Benz and the long-awaited Opel Rekord A are available. In the meantime, the focus is still on agriculture in 2005 - with horse-drawn rakes and tractors. Schlüter, at one time a haulage vehicle manufacturer specializing in heavy-duty tractors in Germany, developed "giants of agriculture" right up to the end. WIKING now presents the legendary haulage vehicles in 1:87. Within the wide range of WIKING tractors, Schlüter has earned a unique and well-deserved reputation as a “youngtimer”.

2004
The round-bonnect fire service vehicles are back

In 2004, collectors can enjoy niche models which no-one else has dared to produce - the Ruthemeyer road roller and the MAN 4R3 with mower and the contemporary farmer in charge complete the series of popular classics. There is also the Hanomag K55 a already produced by WIKING in large scale in the 50s. Fire service fans can enjoy brand new editions of veteran fire trucks: for WIKING has produced both the pump water tender TLF 16 and the rotating turntable ladder DL 25h. The Ulm round-bonnet and square-bonnet vehicles are equally effective carriers. Two of the very latest specialist vehicles from fire service vehicle manufacturer Rosenbauer create a sensation: both a pump water tender on a new Unimog carrier and the All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) – a compact all-wheel fire tender for fire-fighting – are brought out. Another certainly impressive miniature is the Neuson compact loader "Truck Dumper 15" which cannot fail to impress from the start. And of course WIKING opens the new chapter of the Golf V!

2003
Memories of the WIKING founder

WIKING dedicated 2003 to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of WIKING founder Friedrich Karl Peltzer. An outstanding trilogy was produced in memory of the trailblazer for the 1:87 scale who would have celebrated his 100th birthday in 2003. The first set in the trilogy of models in memory of Friedrich Karl Peltzer was the collectors’ box entitled "WIKING - Pioneer of road safety training". A still unglazed Mercedes-Benz patrol car, a traffic policeman and a set of traffic lights - made using historical moulds, of course - bring to life the beginnings of WIKING in the 50s. Then there is the set of warning signs which serve as a reminder of the days when models were used for road safety training. Two more collectors’ boxes entitled "On land and in the air" and "on land and on water" completed the anniversary package. The traditional WIKING brand adds new creations from the Berlin workshops to its range of classics: the classic haulage vehicles get agricultural accessories to create nostalgic scenes. There is the manure-spreader with its distinctive roller system from Westfalian manufacturer Fortuna. The Amazone manure-spreader was extremely popular in the 1960s - there are only a very few examples of these left now. Then there was the Mercedes-Benz Actros with its new facelift and also the new Unimog U 400 with front sweeper. There were two new sets of equipment for the fire service - safety mattresses and fire-fighters. Another surprise was the RLF 2000 from Rosenbauer. The fifth-generation VW Multivan superseded the successful VW Transporter in 2003 while the Menck shovel dredger completed the range of classic construction vehicles. WIKING filled another gap in its broad range of the latest agricultural models with a new type of vehicle: the John Deere 6920 was another heavy-duty haulage vehicle with the familiar level of filigree work.

2002
The Chancellor's VW Phaeton and haulage vehicles up to the present day

The 1:87 model car-maker steeped in tradition continued to develop its products in 2002: WIKING remained true to its model philosophy spanning decades and presented numerous inspiring new models at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. The Berlin model-maker adds to its successful range of classics and produces historic miniature haulage vehicles which reflect the growing popularity of this product range. Furthermore, the innovative M-class from MAN is added to its variety of trucks. Another talking point is a smart 1:87 scale miniature model of a ride-on mower which once again proves what achievements have been in terms of filigree work. However, the new E-class and the CLK from Mercedes-Benz as well as the Chancellor's VW Phaeton saloon also underline the fact once again that you can rely on WIKING as an expert maker of models across the whole product range.

2001
New Econic turntable ladder and a helicopter as a surprise for collectors

The surprise turned out very well. Although everyone knows the history of WIKING model planes, nobody could have guessed that WIKING would unveil such a big surprise at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. The Eurocopter EC 135 was presented as a 1:87 model - WIKING was back in the air after a gap of many years! But that was not all on offer in 2001. WIKING continued to produce new models of the same high quality. A really exceptional model of the Mercedes-Benz Econic was presented with a Metz turntable ladder and the MAN TG-A celebrated its addition to the range. Of course, there were also add-ons for the agricultural models – the Fendt Favorit 716 Vario got a front-loader and so did the Fendt Xylon. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Berlin Fire Department, WIKING dedicated three historic models to the capital’s fire service. In the same year, the Berlin model-maker celebrated another date worth remembering: the 50th anniversary of Unimog was reason enough to produce a remarkable set of four models which should grace every collection. The WIKING magazine 2001 remembered the 20th anniversary of Friedrich Karl Peltzer’s death and paid tribute to the life and work of the founder of the legendary WIKING company.

2000
WIKING remains true to its principles even in the next century

WIKING still remains true to its principles in the year 2000. At the very turn of the century, numerous new models are brought out, proving that the classics are still of great importance to WIKING. The Ford Capri I and the Opel Manta A emphasise the wide range of new models covered as well as the fact that WIKING is as able as ever to cover such a variety of types. This variety also includes, of course, special vehicles and WIKING continues to focus on agricultural models too. Newcomers include the Meiller body carrier as well as the Fendt Favorit 716 Vario and WIKING really hits the spot by bringing out a set of four models to mark the 50th anniversary of the VW Bulli. A series of large-scale agricultural vehicles completes the annual program as well as the Unimog U 400. But the model which will really go down in the WIKING history books as the one for the millennium is the Claas Lexion 480. Collectors have waited for years for this mighty vehicle which also symbolises the model-maker's emergence in the new millennium.
