Chronology of Success
The Traditional of WIKING models
1995
Committed to the European idea
Euro-models from WIKING can now be recognized from the EU flag in the WIKING logo. These are country-specific designs which as a rule are already on the market in the corresponding countries within Europe. The first models to appear are railway company buses, fire department vehicles and police vehicles from neighbouring Austria.
1994
New editions of historical 1:40 models
A reminder of decades gone by: WIKING brings out new editions of 1:40 models produced exclusively for VW. The response is overwhelming. From now on, models are added to the range continuously. Sieper-Werke GmbH & Co. KG takes over Roskopf-Miniaturmodelle. Both product lines appear in the WIKING catalogue and the Roskopf’s individual philosophy is retained. The WIKING magazine is published for the first time and further editions are issued on an annual basis. Since 1997, the magazine not only focuses on the history of models but also contains numerous background information.
1990
New states join the sales network
As a result of the monetary union, the newly-formed German states are now incorporated within the WIKING sales network. From now on, collectors all over Germany have the chance to buy “their” WIKING models without having to wait for “packages from the West”. Later on, WIKING surprises collectors by bringing out the Trabant 601 as a symbol of the reunification of Germany.
